Beginners' Courses

Overview

North Cheshire Bowmen run courses during the winter season on either a Wednesday evening or Saturday morning in the new purpose-built indoor range attached to Knutsford Sports Club. The courses run for 6 weeks and each session is approximately 2 hours long, with all equipment provided. We appreciate that you may not be able to make all the sessions, so we are flexible and run additional sessions to ensure you get the full training.

Course dates for this coming winter are as follows:

Due to COVID-19 we had to cancel the 2019/20 training sessions, and are unsure when we'll be allowed to begin training again, as the National Association has not yet relaxed lockdown for indoor archery and that's where we train.

You're automatically on the waiting list for the next season. I will let everyone on the list know once we have a forward plan.

Come and Join Us!

Once you have completed the beginners course, we hope you'll want to carry on archery and apply for membership at NCB. Membership affiliates you with Archery GB, entitling you to shoot at many competitions all over the country and bringing you the benefits of Archery GB membership. Alternatively, you can join Archery GB directly, or apply to other clubs, for whom your completion of our course should be sufficient, depending on the other club's policy.

Course Details

Each course is led by a qualified L1 coach, with a helper for each shooting point used on the session plus anyone else we can get along to help hand out tabs bracers etc. Many of the helpers tend also to be coaches or preparing to take the training.

Saturday courses are aimed at 12 trainees (numbers vary slightly with sudden groups and booked people dropping out) and utilize all 6 shooting points in the range.

Wednesday courses are smaller, with 6-7 trainees, run by three people - one an L1 coach. Wednesdays we use 2 shooting points so as to allow regular archery to continue as the course is running.
