As a keepsake of this milestone, a special 75-year club badge has been created for each member. Badges will be available for collection at the range from 14 September onwards. The club’s badge takes inspiration from the golden sheaves of wheat that adorn the Cheshire flag with a blue background. Three arrows are incorporated into the design, reflecting the club’s connection to the heritage of the region and its dedication to the sport of archery. The pub also served as a venue for club meetings and held the first Annual General Meeting of the Cheshire Archery Association (CAA) which was formed in 1954.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 1969, following changes in the management of the Saracens Head pub, the club once more found itself in need of a new location. This development prompted the members to begin seeking another suitable venue to continue their activities.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA fire had badly damaged the clubhouse at the Bowden Rugby Union Football Club (BRUFC) on Clay Lane, Timperley. A new club house was built and the NCB were offered the use of the old building. With the help of the rugby players the building was repaired and extended to provide a 20yd range and separate social area with a kitchen.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMembers benefited from outdoor shooting on the second team pitch during the summer months, with sessions also available on most Sundays throughout the winter. This location served as the club’s home for three decades.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNorth Cheshire Bowmen established a strong presence in the archery community, with members regularly competing at county and national levels. The club hosted open shoots, notably the annual record status York/Hereford event each May, an early predecessor to the F.I.T.A. shoot which began in 1989. In addition, friendly matches were organised with Wirral and Rochdale archery clubs. In response, both clubs agreed to collaborate and raise funds for a new shared facility. This effort resulted in the opening of the new facility in January 2007.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFollowing several more years at BRUFC, and after changes in the use of the facilities, NCB once again embarked on the search for a new location. The club eventually found a permanent home in Knutsford, relocating to Knutsford Sports Club (KSC) on Mereheath Lane in 2011. Members committed their resources, both in time and finances, to build a dedicated indoor archery range exclusively for the club’s use at all hours, which opened in 2013. The adjoining field, shared with the cricket club, provides opportunities for outdoor shooting throughout the year.
